More than 10 months have passed since Jang Keun Suk last worked in Korea, but according to a report in the media outlet Korea Times, the singer-actor is preparing his comeback.

Anonymous sources quoted by the news outlet said that Jang is currently choosing from a selection of films and dramas to work on in the coming year.

Jang has not worked in Korea since January due to negative publicity surrounding a tax investigation into his finances. In September 2014 when he was questioned by the National Tax Service for underreporting income earned in China.

As a result of the investigation the 28-year-old actor paid about $10 million in fines to the Seoul District National Tax Service. The chairman of Jang Geun Suk's agency Tree J Entertainment also paid a fine and the NTS investigated several other celebrities using this company to secure work in other countries. The investigation did not result in further legal action.

Jang Keun Suk becomes the first domestic university ‘Sharing Professor’, giving a special speech. On 20th afternoon, appointment ceremony was held at his alma mater, Intercontinental hotel in Samsung-Dong, Seoul.

After one year, actor Jang Keun Suk will see his Chinese fans again with his solo concert ‘Jang Keun Suk Live in Shanghai 2015’. On September 12th, actor Jang Keun Suk visited an orphanage, named ‘Namsan Orphanage,’ with his official fan club members for volunteer activities.

Jang Keun Suk and his official fan club members have participated in a great number of different volunteer activities during last many years, and ‘Namsan Orphanage’ is an orphanage that Jang Keun Suk showed particular love and supports for since 2012.

Jang Keun Suk wore an apron directly after arriving at the orphanage, and went around every child at the orphanage to say hello. Afterwards, he started cooking lunch for the children.

Jang Keun Suk, who enjoys cooking often, made Korean fried rice cake (Tteokbokki), and Korean sushi (Kimbap) for the children. He showed great care for the children even while cooking, letting them to taste bit by bit, and it is said that many officials were deeply impressed by Jang Keun Suk’s warm personality.

Jang Keun Suk said, “Letters that the children at Namsan Orphanage wrote to me were on display at the photo exhibition that my fan club members held recently, and I thought that it would be very meaningful to visit this orphanage with my fan club members. It was a great experience for me, and I hope to continue this beautiful relationship with them.”

After the visit, Jang Keun Suk’s fan club donated 15 million KRW to the orphanage, and Jang Keun Suk also donated 10 million KRW.

Korean Wave star Jang Keun-suk’s official fan club, Cri J, has donated 6 million won ($5,400) to The Snail of Love, which is an organization that supports people with hearing impairments.
A person involved with the organization revealed on Friday that Cri J donated part of the proceeds earned from the Sharing Photo Exhibition the club held last month in Seoul to celebrate the star’s birthday. The donation was made on Aug. 27.
Thanks to the contribution, a child with a hearing disability was able to receive cochlear implants on Thursday and also will be able to undergo language rehabilitation therapy for three years.
“Every year, 1,600 babies are born with hearing impairments, and we felt deeply sorry for those babies who live disconnected from the world due to their disability,” explained a source from the fan club.
“We wanted to contribute to helping [those children] hear sounds.”
It is not the first time for Jang and his fan club to commit good deeds. For example, Jang and Cri J visited a child care institution called Namsanwon to do voluntary service on Sept. 12, according to Jang’s entertainment company on Sept. 14.

A short film directed by hallyu star Jang Geun-suk (“Pretty Man”) topped the weekly film section of the Oricon Chart, Japan’s biggest music and entertainment ranking list, said PR agency Y Tree Media on March 25.

Titled “CAMP,” the 38-minute movie captures events that occur during Jang’s attempts to film wild animals in the Jejudo Island mountains as a documentary director.

The actor-singer participated in the planning and directing stages in collaboration with director Yoon Hong-seung (“The Target”), the PR agency said.

Jang is currently touring Japan for a concert series titled “The Chrishow 3.” His upcoming show will be on in Fukuoka from March 26-27.

Jang Keun Suk Japan Official Fan Club started 5 years ago. To celebrate the 5th anniversary, JKS held his first official fan meeting ‘Jang Keun Suk VALENTINE FANCLUB EVENT’ in Japan.

For 2 days, February 13th and 14th, he spent a heart-warming time with fans in Tokyo full of St. Valentine’s Day atmosphere.

Jang Keun Suk reached an important milestone, 5th anniversary for his Japan Official Fan Club. He’s held a lot of concerts or events in Japan so far, but surprisingly, it was his first official fan meeting in Japan. The venue, Tokyo International Forum Hall A was full of fans who had waited for the day to come. As the event title ‘GIFT’ shows, the fan meeting became a memorable event given from him to fans who keep supporting him for a long time.

In this event, 7 missions related to initials of ‘JKS GIFT’ were given to him and he had to complete them such as question time using a polygraph test, check for his personal items, impromptu dancing seeing his past videos, and live response to requests given by fans like “show us your bossy style of love confession at the camera!” “Show us your best smile!” and so on. Like this, this exclusive event was totally different from his concerts.

He even walked down from the stage to get closer to fans, and walked around the venue holding a selca bar. Such an unexpected event made the audience so happy. When the MC announced that he would walk around on the second floor as well as on the first floor, the venue was covered by the cheers of the audience. He really walked all over the venue. Usually JKS expresses his ideas from the planning stage actively, and joins the production part of each stage, but this time the detail was not revealed to him in advance. Jang Keun Suk′s Agency Releases Official Statement Regarding Tax Evasion

With reports saying that Jang Keun Suk paid over 10 billion won in penalty tax to the National Tax Service, Jang Keun Suk′s agency released an official statement.

On January 14, Jang keun suk′s agency, Tree J Company released an official statement, saying, "The reports about tax evasion and tax investigations continue to come out, but we want to correctly state that as previously reported, it is not a special tax investigation regarding Jang keun suk′s foreign income tax, but rather a periodic tax investigation for Jang keun suk′s agency, Tree J Company."


"The company sincerely participated in the investigation, and in the investigation process of the involved authorities, an error, made by the agency′s accounting firm, was found and the tax return was amended and a penalty payment was paid."

"Tree J Company adjusted to the substantive and procedural parts and clearly carried out the duty to pay, and the involved authorities acknowledged that it wasn′t done on purpose and did not press charges, meaning that no examination of the prosecution took place."

"Through the process of many reports, several assumed that Jang Keun Suk was under the accusation of tax evasion and paid an enormous amount in penalty fee, and as that was reported as the truth, the public accepted it as the truth, causing a huge damage to the actor′s image," said Tree J Company. "Regarding this, we feel a deep sense of regret towards him."

"This issue was created due to an error made by the company′s accounting firm and completely unrelated with Jang Keun Suk. The tax report has been corrected and the penalty was paid. We′d like to state once more that Jang Keun Suk has diligently paid his taxes."

"With this issue, we will be more careful to make sure that not even a little error occurs in our financial issues," stated Tree J Company. "We sincerely express our apologies to Jang Keun Suk, who is in our company, as well as to the fans and the public. We will make sure that Jang Keun Suk′s image will not be tarnished due to the company′s mistake."

In an ending note, the company wrote, "We will work harder to show a better image. We want to apologize to our actor once more. We hope that there will be no more articles of speculation that will tarnish Jang Keun Suk′s name."

An affiliate of Jang Keun Suk spoke with Newsen on January 16 and said, “We’re very sorry to the production team of Three Meals – Fishing Village Special, Na Young Seok PD, Cha Seung Won and Yoo Hae Jin sunbaenim. It has been reported that Jang Keun Suk is currently out of Korea in order to carry out his overseas schedules. As soon as he returns to Korea, he will be releasing official statements on leaving tvN’s Three Meals – Fishing Village Special as well as on being accused of tax evasion.

The production team of tvN previously announced on January 15 that after going through discussions with his agency, they came to a conclusion to have Jang Keun Suk step off the program.

About being suspected of tax evasion, Jang Keun Suk′s agency has revealed that it filed a revised tax return in order to correct the accounting errors and that Jang Keun Suk has completed paying all taxes.
